The Challenge
An innovative biofuel producer, home to the world's largest hydrothermal liquefaction facility, faced a critical environmental management challenge. This facility, dedicated to converting biomass into sustainable fuels, generates complex wastewater laden with persistent organic contaminants from its production processes.
To address this, the company engaged Viridis to determine the efficacy of our technology in reducing organic contamination in this specific wastewater stream.
Our Approach
For this feasibility study, Viridis deployed a specialized electro-oxidation reactor with dual double-faced electrodes. Utilizing wastewater samples provided by the client, Viridis conducted rigorous laboratory assessment that systematically degraded organic contaminants.
The Results
Viridis' technology delivered a remarkable 99% reduction in both turbidity and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and a 96% reduction in colour.
