VANCOUVER, BC – August 20, 2025 – Vancouver-based water technology innovator, Viridis Research Inc. (“Viridis”), today announced the successful oversubscription of its phase one seed funding round, with participation from top impact investors including C.E.L.L. Investment GmbH, Mosaic Accelerator and Capital Angel Network.

Viridis’ groundbreaking water treatment technology leverages the power of electrochemical oxidation to eliminate, through full mineralization, organic contaminants from wastewater sources. Viridis’ first target market is the textile manufacturing sector, which accounts for 4 percent of global freshwater consumption and 20 percent of all industrial wastewater pollution. Through building strategic partnerships with global fashion brands and their suppliers, Viridis is introducing a first-of-its-kind water treatment system that integrates into the textile dyeing process to unlock continuous water recycling and reuse.

Raising money in this volatile financial market can be difficult. It’s even more challenging for hard tech startups, especially when many investors prefer fast-return software plays over long-term hardware innovation. Closing this over-subscribed round is a testament to the conviction of our leadership team in partnering with value-aligned investors that share our mission of empowering people and communities to protect water sources, and our ambition to build the most efficient electro-oxidation systems on the planet”, says Dr. Macarena Cataldo, founder and CEO of Viridis.

Viridis’ innovative approach to decentralized wastewater treatment represents the future of sustainable water management. Capital Angel Network is proud to support their mission to eliminate persistent organic pollutants and enable widespread water reuse, starting with the high-impact textile industry. Our members’ investment in Viridis is a testament to their proprietary technology, dynamic team and the real potential to deliver both financial return and impact at a global scale”, says Suzanne Grant, Executive Director of Capital Angel Network.

Our decision to invest in Viridis was driven by the company’s innovative solution in the field of circular economy – reusing water instead of wasting it. We believe this approach addresses a critical global challenge.” adds Viktoria Zimm, Managing Director of Impact Investments at Austria-based C.E.L.L. Investment GmbH.

The funds will be deployed directly into the execution of field pilots, development of manufacturing best practices and execution of Viridis’ first commercial agreements with strategic textile manufacturing partners. Ultimately, these funds will enable Viridis to introduce a novel water treatment solution to the textile industry, opening up the opportunity for manufacturers to significantly reduce water consumption, water pollution and associated costs, and aligning their operations with growing sustainability demands from fashion brands and regulators.
